Laser refers to the light produced by stimulated radiation of materials. Laser has good monochromaticity, coherence and directionality, and its characteristics are expressed by wavelength (λ) or frequency. According to different wavelength, laser can be divided into infrared laser, visible laser and ultraviolet laser.

 

Compared with ordinary light source, laser has high brightness, high directionality and other excellent characteristics, has become a new technology and means, widely used in communication, industrial processing, military weapons, medical and many other fields.

Laser is a device for producing and outputting laser. The ultrafast laser represented by picosecond and femtosecond laser has the characteristics of extremely short laser pulse (pulse duration is only a few picoseconds or femtosecond) and extremely high peak power. It has unique super fine, no thermal effect and other excellent properties for material processing.

The "ultra fine" - ultra fast laser can focus on the ultra-fine space area, and has extremely high peak power and very short laser pulse. During the processing, the section is neat, without thermal diffusion, micro cracks and metallurgical defects. During the processing, it will not affect the surrounding materials in the space range involved, thus achieving the ultra fine processing.

The "no thermal effect" of the processing, the traditional laser with pulse duration greater than 10ps, will play a major role in the thermal process when it interacts with the material. As the pulse duration is only picosecond and femtosecond, far less than the energy release time of stimulated electrons in materials through transfer conversion and other forms, the pulse with the pulse duration less than 10ps has ended before the energy can be released, avoiding the energy transfer, conversion, the existence of heat and thermal diffusion, and realizing the real laser "cold" processing.

The industrial application of ultrafast laser is very extensive. With the development of new applications such as consumer electronics, new display, biomedical, 3D printing and high-end equipment, the requirements for laser processing precision are higher and higher. Ultrafast laser has become an important direction of precision processing. Laser enterprises at home and abroad have laid out laser / ultrafast laser equipment market. At present, the core ultrafast laser market is dominated by foreign companies, represented by coherent, spectral physics, tongkuai, NKT, ekspla, lihgt convergence, lumentum, edgewave, amplite and other companies. Domestic enterprises such as Han's laser, Huari laser, Anyang laser, Hongtuo new technology, Shengxiong laser, Beilin laser, Zhuo laser are vigorously promoting the industrialization of technology, making rapid development in such industrial links as ultrafast laser equipment, laser precision processing, laser technology research and development, technology application and product production.

In 2015, Zhuo radium laser established a strategic partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which will provide continuous technical support and development momentum for Zhuo radium laser.
